It had been 244 years since Dr O’Bannan had brought the world’s elite to the island. In all that time, ‘the old world’ had remained silent. But what started out as a utopia soon turned into a battle for power.

And then the shadow came...

For Dr Herbert Sanderson and his wife Andrea things were about to go from bad to worse. And they were soon going to learn a lesson in what it means to be free.

Two important things happened to Emily when she turned ten: she was diagnosed with Batten Disease and she met her Spirit Guide (a giant blue bear). When it is revealed that the local Woods are about to be chopped down, she also realises that she can talk to the plants and trees. So, with the help of her Guide and Mother Nature, Emily sets about trying to save the Woods. But can a little girl really defeat a big business? And will her illness make it impossible to even try?

This book has been lovingly developed to raise awareness and much needed funds for The Batten Disease Family Association in honour of my cousin's daughter, Emily. All profits will go to the charity to help provide support to families affected by the disease.
