I will be having a short ten-minute play performed as part of the TTC New Writing Fringe the first week of April. This is the yearly festival run by Teddington Theatre Club for new and upcoming playwrights. I am extremely honoured to be part of what looks like a fantastic and varied showcase.
My piece is a comedy called The 64th Dragma Battalion and is about three online gamers competing in a battle royale. The battalion is deep in enemy territory and there is a mole out there… not the animal kind, the backstabbing one. Will they make it to the end of the battle alive?
It will be performed on Wednesday 2 April at 7:45pm, Friday 4 April at 7:45pm, and Saturday 5 April at 6pm, all at Hampton Hill Theatre, TW12 1NZ. The play is directed by the wonderful Carmen Mackey and will star Alex Rose as Probrogamer123, Amin Houte as Thefellowshipofthebling1_0-0_1, and Lara Parker as Sidneyduzthebuziness1066.

A Happy New Year to you all. I had a wonderful Christmas with my family and I hope you did, too. Not with my family, of course, that would be weird, but with your own kith and kin. Despite the chaos of the holidays I still found time to read a couple of books: The Mamur Zapt and the Spoils of Egypt by Michael Pearce, and Maigret and the Lazy Burglar by Georges Simenon.
Thank you so much to all of you who have bought my books. I hope you find them fun and entertaining. My gratitude to those who bought Emily and the Battle of Ottywood is particularly high and we have already raised £100 for the Batten Disease Family Association. You’ve done a wonderful thing and I think you’re amazing! This year I will be releasing my latest children’s book The Boy and the Case of the Missing Toothbrush and I have been busy working on my latest adult novel over the past couple of months.
Lots to look forward to so keep your eyes peeled and your ears to the ground. Love Steve.

Today I launched my first children’s book ‘Emily and the Battle of Ottywood’. Aimed at middle grade, 8-12 year olds, this has been a really important project for me. It tells the story of a young girl called Emily who is diagnosed with Batten Disease, a degenerative disorder for which there is no cure.
On the day she finds out, her spirit guide appears and bestows super powers upon her. Together, they head off to try and stop some business men chopping down a local wood. Emily is actually my cousin’s daughter and, like a lot of people, I had never heard of Batten Disease before she was diagnosed.
That was a couple of years ago when she was just ten years old. This book hopes to raise awareness about the disease and all profits made will go to the Batten Disease Family Association here in the UK. The book is full of heart and good humour and is my little tribute to Emily and her amazing courage. Personally, I think you should buy a copy, support a worthwhile cause and enjoy a good adventure. Not that I’m bias or anything. I’m the very model of impartiality… Do buy it, though, you won’t regret it. Love Steve.

This is where I’ll put blog posts, news stories or other bits and bobs that take my fancy. For example, ‘Hi everyone, guess what? My new book has just been released’, or ‘I am doing a book signing today at the Waterstones in Kingston upon Thames’, or ‘Does anybody want to hear a really awful Christmas joke?’ that type of thing.
